Despite the effects of the global economic meltdown, the Philippines maintains its competitive outsourcing edge and plays a major role in the evolution and maturity of the world’s outsourcing and offshoring industry.
True enough, the Philippines’ outsourcing revenues significantly increased to 25 percent from $4.8 billion in 2007 to $6 billion in 2008, while industry employment accelerated by 33 percent to an estimated 400,000 employees.
The Philippines continues to drive outsourcing excellence, making it the right service location for just the right outsourcing delivery. According to Oscar Sañez, the CEO of Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), “the continued growth of the IT-BPO industry helps sustain economic activity in the Philippines.”
“Surveys show that most companies expect to expand within the year by about 10-15 percent. Some smaller companies are planning growth of up to 200 percent within the year,” Mr. Sañez continues.
When asked what measures the Outsourcing industry and the Philippine government are taking to ensure quality of talent, Mr. Sañez answers “The industry and government work together to spread awareness of the benefits of a career in the IT-BPO sector. The government provides subsidies for short term training which industry distributes and monitors.”
The Philippines remains to be a competitive outsourcing hub across the globe. Its outsourcing industry works closely with universities and colleges to incorporate short-term training programs in the curriculum. This enables the Philippines to produce tertiary graduates that are highly employable.
The Philippines sustains its position as a preferred offshore location for English-language customer support services. With a favorable demographic profile and a literacy rate of 92.6 percent according to The CIA World Factbook, the Philippines is the outsourcing destination to be reckoned with.
Adding to the growing list of the Philippines’ key competitive advantages according to Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) are domain expertise, service orientation, work ethic, cultural adaptability and fit, infrastructure and connectivity, cost competitiveness, and supportive environment.
Philippine outsourcing companies enable you to improve your customer satisfaction rating, business competitive edge and standing to name a few. The benefits of outsourcing in the Philippines are growing and getting even better each passing year.
With excellence as its top virtue, the Philippine outsourcing industry is providing the world with only the best, cost-effective, trustworthy, competent, and hassle-free services that are incomparable to the rest of Asia, or probably, of the world! All these and more allow the Philippines to hold its ground as one of the more prominent and established outsourcing hubs in the world.

Despite issues of the degrading quality of education in the Philippines, it is a relief to find out that we still have a high literacy rate compared to other countries, and remains to be the top choice of IT BPO service industry. it is also a good idea for the government to have short term trainings for this course especially for those who are unemployed. this type of industry doesn’t only greatly reduce the unemployment rate, but it also puts the country once more on the list of pool of the best manpower in the world.
I would have to add that the work ethic of the people from the Philippines is very high. Also the workers are willing to get in and figure out exactly what is needed and wanted….plus the go the extra mile when it comes to producing a product. This makes this group an unique resource when it comes to out sourcing.
And the Philippines and its people have still room for improvement and potential for positive growth. With the right investments of training and expertise in technology, human resources in the country is a renewable form of capital that businesses should take advantage of.
does BPO give boost on the economy?
I’d like to think so, or we wouldn’t have a company!
