@Alma – Whatever the Philippines lose with American customers that would prefer to speak to someone locally, they make up for in politeness and positive attitudes. One of the things our clients respond to often when working with their crew in the Philippines is, “Wow…why are they so cheerful? They always seem like they’re having fun!”

The Philippines values a work/play environment that I mostly find amusing and admire. Americans are much more “strictly business” at work and so it’s refreshing to work with someone that’s cheerful.

You are right. One of the compliments I get from foreign clients is that I am very polite. I practice frankness and honesty with my clients as well when difficult cases or work comes up and I had to idea how to deal with a certain task and I had to admit that I am unable to perform it due to some shortcoming. Rather than waste my client’s time and money, I think being honest about our own shortcoming wouldn’t hurt either. In fact, my clients love me for it.
