Transforming Philippines Business Process Outsourcing into Knowledge Outsourcing18 Jan
Like a caterpillar into a butterfly, the Philippines business process outsourcing industry is undergoing transformation. Outsourcing partners in the Philippines are taking on greater responsibilities and performing more and more critical business functions for their partners overseas. Process outsourcing Philippines is becoming an even more highly skilled industry than ever imagined. The new trend is called knowledge process outsourcing, and it is the next big movement in business.
What is KPO?
Knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) is a new product in the business process outsourcing (BPO) field. KPO involves much more than standard BPO, which focuses on providing very basic customer care and support. KPO takes these simple processes and goes one step further, meaning that those providing it must also make low-level decisions regarding business. The major difference between KPO and BPO is that KPO demands a degree of analytical thinking and technical problem solving skills that are actually based on real-world experience.
Who is Involved in Knowledge Process Outsourcing?
Currently, the KPO market has been largely cornered by other countries, such as India. However, with its growing popularity as a BPO destination, process outsourcing in the Philippines is well-positioned to become very competitive in the KPO market. Philippines business process outsourcing is ready to go the KPO level because they are now producing a large talent pool of master’s degree level graduates with a wealth of knowledge and practical work experience.
What can KPO do for a business?
Some popular trends in the KPO market include enlisting the services of highly trained, educated and experienced financial analysts, accountants, human resource managers and even IT professionals. Essentially, KPO gives businesses access to the skills and knowledge of these highly qualified professionals – all without the added cost of overhead associated with hiring and training the personnel onsite. Process outsourcing Philippines is so affordable that businesses can enjoy a massive pool of information and talent at a fraction of the cost.
While KPO is significantly more costly than BPO for obvious reasons, it is still an excellent solution for growing businesses. The Philippines business process outsourcing market is ripe for tapping new sources for KPO services. Given its history and reputation for excellence in process outsourcing, the industry in the Philippines is in an excellent position to tap into the KPO market. This is a promising new venture that can allow healthy competition between India and the Philippines, thereby encouraging the development of new resources and technology for processing partners across the globe.

It’s nice to hear news like this, this only means that BPO business here in the Philippines had a good result that’s why it is move to a higher level of responsibilities. Call center agents deserve the credits of this transformation.
Great news BPO here in the Philippines had a good result.
I congratulate all of the call center agents that willing to make the night day to do their job, and because of them Philippines now acknowledge by many Call Center Company or BPO Company.
call centers in the Philippines are taking in Billions now and they say by 2011 it will increase by another 15% thats staggering compared to any other industry, is it not?
Staggering yes, expected as well. Now the questions is how will all this new investment affect the country?
With these BPO companies here in the Philippines, working overseas would decrease. Only if Filipinos will change in their point of view that there is job here in the country.
@Ronald
Agreed and the only way the viewpoint will change is through good education and employers taking an interest in their people.
I think KPO is the future. Philippines is poised to jump ahead of the legal research and accounting for American companies. So far only a handful of major companies have opened serious KPO divisions but thankfully a few smaller companies have really pushed ahead to get the industry up and running.
KPO has a big future but small outsourcing companies must continue to focus efforts on corning a small segment of that market space. Otherwise it will become dominated by the big guys. KPO requires an agents with more skills and better training. This means a greater up front investment from the BPO company and will be a turn off to smaller organizations who fail to see the big picture. A viewpoint we need to change quickly.
Im looking for a call center in the Philippines that does inbound order taking because I have a TV commercial and other campaigns coming up and I’m expecting a lot of calls to come in. I found this one but before I make a move I wanted to see if anyone here can refer a company to me. Thanks in advance!
@ordertaking Please contact us at info@trybpo.com with some details on your campaign. We would love to setup an inbound response team for you.
Really interesting that the major difference between KPO and BPO is that KPO demands a degree of analytical thinking and technical problem solving skills that are actually based on real-world experience. Nice blog.
It looks like Philippines is becoming more in demand in processing industry. Filipinos really got the skills and the knowledge, that is needed by fast growing BPO and eventually the KPO industry. No wonder, many foreign companies put offices here in the Philippines to do business here.
I agree that philippines is skillfull and very knowledgeable in things specially in the industry and aside from that filipinos are trained to be a good leader.
Developments of KPOs in Philippines would surely promote healthy competition between Philippines and India. I also agree to Joseph Magnotti’s point that smaller companies should also try to venture into KPO industry. However I feel that quality is prime factor to be considered, when it comes to producing specialized work as per client requirements, with the help of skilled professionals. Even a small number of employees can produce high quality work as compared to large number of average employees. At my company ( http://www.sddglobal.com ), the off-shore legal outsourcing (LPO or legal KPO – knowledge process outsourcing) services we provide compare favorably with much of what attorneys produce at high-quality law firms in the West. When corporations and law firms outsource legal services to our company, the work is done by top law graduates, experienced lawyers, and/or former law professors from some of the best companies, law firms and law schools in India. In fact, we hire only one out of every 900 job applicants. And again, those recruits in turn are trained and supervised by respected U.S. or U.K. attorneys.
